Doing The Christian Walk With A Funky Strut

Bassist Influences

WARNING: Worldly Content!  *laughs*

As I look back on my life, it only seems natural that eventually I’d pick up a bass…almost every single song I count among my favorites, secular or Christian, has a throbbing/funky/busy bass line in it.  So now, as a player, these are the people whose playing I would like to emulate elements of–while discovering my own unique groove of course–

James Jamerson

Nate Watts

Fred Hammond

Thaddeus Tribbett

Steve Lewinson

Terrance Palmer

Verdine White

Marcus Miller

Victor Wooten

Esperanza Spalding

Bill Wyman

Bob Babbitt

Yep, mostly secular folks.  But they opened my ears to the awesomeness of bass, so if God built me to play it, and He used them to steer me toward it, it’s all good, right?  🙂
